Construction work is underway on a new Aldi discount food store supermarket at the Peterborough One Retail Park in Eye, on the east side of Peterborough. The 18,500 sq ft Aldi store is expected to be completed next year and should create about 40 jobs.

Construction of the store is the second phase of development works at the park and began after the completion of enabling works by land owners, Targetfollow Group.

Peterborough One is home to Van Hage Garden Centre, The Works and Inflata Nation. Further phases proposed by Targetfollow include up to 30,000 sq ft of retail, leisure, pub and leisure space.

The new 2,200 sq ft Costa drive thru has opened in St Albans. Located on Griffith Way opposite Sainsbury’s and adjacent to the Abbey View Retail Park and The Range, upon completion, the scheme will provide new units for Aldi and B&Q as well as the Costa Coffee drive thru. The B&Q unit will be the largest at 46,313 sq ft, while the Aldi unit is 18,567 sq ft.

Consolidated Property Group acquired the 7.1 acre site from National Grid and forward funded the development with LXi REIT.

Construction has started on a new £60 million retail park which will create new stores for B&Q, Marks and Spencer and Aldi.

Churchmanor Estates has kicked off building work on the new Stane Retail Park, at Tollgate in Stanway. The new 173,000 sq ft retail park, about the size of three football pitches, will house a new store for B&Q, an M&S Food Hall and a new Aldi. The DIY giant is moving from its current home in The Hythe to the new shop, designed with a covered builders yard and improved garden centre. It's old home is set to become a new Sainsbury's supermarket for residents of The Hythe.

Aldi will be relocating its nearby London Road store to the new unit, which is much larger. Roland Stanley, Aldi's property director, said: "Our new store at Stane Retail Park will be a larger, modern format store with substantially improved car parking providing both our customers and staff with fantastic facilities but still offering our high quality products at our everyday low cost prices. "All of our colleagues at Lexden will transfer to the new store when it opens."

If works progress as planned, the new retail park will be ready to open in September next year.

Churchmanor is also spending £2.6 million on improvements to the Eight Ash Green A12 roundabout, where a four way traffic signal junction is set to be created. The Western Bypass is also set to be widened to two lanes between Essex Yeomanry Way and the Sainsbury’s roundabout.

Aldi, the UK’s leading discount food retailer, opened their new store on Priory Crescent, Southend-on-Sea earlier today, Thursday 3rd September 2020.

The new store provides 18,482 sq ft with 98 car parking spaces and replaces the old store on Eastern Avenue which had become too small.

Aldi bought the 1.8 acre site from Bellway (Essex) Ltd. The store is located on the front of Ecko Park, a new housing development delivered by Bellway Homes.

Aldi, the UK’s leading discount food retailer, opened their new store on the front of Compass Point Business Park in St Ives earlier today, Thursday 6th August 2020.

The new store is located on the corner of Stocks Bridge Way and Needingworth Road, directly opposite the Morrisons supermarket with other occupiers closeby including McDonalds, Costa and Subway. The store provides 18,665 sq ft with 134 car parking space.

Frontier Estates has secured a resolution to grant consent for their proposed Western Neighbourhood Centre at Stortford Fields that will serve the 2,200 homes being built by developers Bovis, Kier, Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey.

The 2.4 acre site was acquired by Frontier Estates in 2019 and a planning application submitted earlier this year for a mixed use development including a 78-bed care home, children’s day nursery, doctors' surgery, retail units and affordable housing.

South Street Surgery in Bishop's Stortford town centre has already announced its intention to move to the medical centre there and terms are agreed with a care home and nursery. Construction is due to begin later this year.

Stortford Fields is a brand new development of homes and community facilities located on the outskirts of Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. The development will be built over two phases; the Western Neighbourhood and the Eastern Neighbourhood.

The first new residents of Stortford Fields have now moved into their homes and, subject to further planning permission, the whole of the Stortford Fields development is due for completion in 2026.

Aldi, the UK's leading discount food retailer, opened their new store on Gascoyne Way, Hertford earlier today, 16th July 2020.

Occupying the site of the former ‘Which?' consumer magazine offices, the new Aldi store provides a gross internal floor area of 18,675 sq ft with 127 customer car parking spaces.

Which? is the largest independent consumer body in the UK with more than 1.5 million members and supporters. The acquisition of the site by Aldi followed the decision by Which? To relocate their head office from Hertford to new offices in Cardiff in 2018.

Aldi have opened their second store in Cambridge on Newmarket Road, the main route into the city centre from the east.

Aldi entered into a new lease with the private landlord on the entire building which was refurbished and reconfigured to provide a store of circa. 20,000 sq ft for Aldi and an adjoining retail unit of 6,760 sq ft. There are 126 shared customer car parking spaces.

Aldi already trade from an existing store on Histon Road located to the north west of the city centre.

The Gym are the latest occupier to open on the Gateway Retail Park in Lowestoft. They took a new lease on a 5,000 sq ft unit and join Aldi, Card Factory, Costa, Greggs, Subway and The Range.

The Gateway Retail Park was developed by Metropolitan Estates, part of The Freshwater Group. The scheme comprises 76,000 sq ft of new build retail accommodation along with 313 car parking spaces. There is one 10,000 sq ft unit available.
